Walking through the Walmart today buying pants for Zen, the Christmas song “Silver Bells” came on the audio system. This song always cracks me up. It has since I was in the 6th grade. Back then I thought I was quite the comedian, and I used to change the lyrics to songs on whim. “Silver Bells” was one of the songs lucky enough to get my re-writing treatments.
I started singing my version, called “Golden Bells”, while Mouth, Mouse and I were all hoofing it through the “husky” section of the boy’s department. They now think I’m off my rocker.
I probably am.
“Golden Bells”
Country sidewalks, empty sidewalks, dressed in everyday style
In the air there’s a feeling
of Easter.
Children crying, people sighing, meeting frown after frown
and, in every street gutter you’ll hear…..
Golden bells
Golden bells
It’s Easter Time in the country.
Ring a lang, hear them bang,
Soon it will be HALLOWEEEEEENNNNNN!
Tons of headlights, even store lights, blink a bright neon pink
as the robbers run home with their plunder.
Hear the dirt crunch, watch the kids punch, this is such a big scene
and, above all this bullshit you’ll hear
Golden Bells
Golden Bells
It’s Easter Time in the country.
Ring a lang, hear them bang,
Soon it will be HALLOWEEEEENNNNN!
Ring them on! Can I have some black bells? Halloween will be here in a few months, you know?
